RM1.71b withdrawn from EPF in Q3

A total of RM1.71 billion has been withdrawn from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) by members in the third quarter 2011 for the purpose of investing elsewhere, it was announced Friday.

The amount was 50.56 per cent higher compared with RM1.14 billion in same period last year, while total applications approved under the Members’ Investment Withdrawal increased by 46.94 per cent to 199,596 from 135,833.

“The increase in investment withdrawals indicates that members desire to take charge of their savings to gain better returns.

“While this is good, any decision to explore outside the EPF, should be treaded carefully especially given the current global economic uncertainties,” said EPF Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Azlan Zainol in a statement announcing the fund’s unaudited operations performance report for third quarter 2011.

From July to Sept 2011, the EPF recorded a notable growth for Flexible Age 55 Withdrawals during which the number of applications approved jumped by 59.86 per cent to 27,334 from 17,099 in previous corresponding period.
The amount withdrawn under this withdrawal grew 59.23 per cent to RM1.01 billion from RM633 million.

On the other hand, the number of approved applications for Lump Sum Age 55 Withdrawal registered a minimal growth of 8.24 per cent to 35,450 from 32,752 while the amount withdrawn increased 5.81 per cent to RM1.46 billion from RM1.38 billion.

During the quarter also, the EPF saw a healthy growth of 124,183 new members as a result of 12,960 new employers registering with the fund.

he fund also saw 57,381 new nominations registered during the period, bringing the total of EPF members who have nominated their beneficiaries to 4,800,087, a 12.96 per cent increase after aggressive efforts by the EPF in urging its members to make nominations.

The EPF also announced that its website, myEPF, has scored a 5-Star rating and has been ranked in the top 10 websites among 1,155 government portals and websites by the Malaysia Government Portals and Websites Assessment (MGPWA).

During the third quarter, EPF electronic channels continued to gain popularity among members with myEPF website and i-Akaun showing significant increase in usage.

The number of logins into i-Akaun, a personalised online account for members and employers via myEPF website, increased 38.88 per cent to 1,183,274 from 852,000, while myEPF website attracted 1,369,080 visitors in the third quarter 2011 compared to 1,127,000 in the corresponding quarter last year, up 21.48 per cent.

In addition, EPF Kiosks which offer members the convenience of obtaining their account statements in a time-saving manner registered a 6.35 per cent growth to 1,422,925 from 1,337,911. — Bernama

Great Eastern Takaful sasar 8,000 ejen 2012

 

KUALA LUMPUR 25 Okt. – Great Eastern Takaful Sdn. Bhd. (Great Eastern Takaful) menyasarkan jumlah ejennya di seluruh negara mencecah sehingga 8,000 orang pada akhir tahun 2012 menerusi pelantikan organisasi.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Great Eastern Takaful, Mohamad Salihuddin Ahmad berkata, melalui langkah itu, ejen-ejen tersebut dipilih daripada ahli agensi korporatnya dan diberi latihan menjadi wakil insuransnya.

Koperasi Angkatan Tentera Malaysia Bhd. (KATM) telah dilantik sebagai agensi korporat pertama Great Eastern Takaful pada satu majlis yang diadakan di sini hari ini.

“Kerjasama yang dimeterai akan membawa keuntungan kepada kedua-dua pihak. Syarikat kami akan meluaskan pasaran kami manakala bagi KATM, ia menawarkan peluang pekerjaan kepada ahli mereka.

“Ahlinya terdiri daripada pesara dan anggota yang akan bersara,” kata Mohamad Salihuddin Ahmad dalam majlis itu.

Turut hadir ialah Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif KATM; Jen. Datuk Ahmad Zahudi Salleh.

Tambah Mohamad Salihuddin, pihaknya akan terus menambah agensi korporatnya pada masa hadapan dan menjadi tunjang kepada usaha menambah bilangan ejen syarikat itu.

“Daripada 8,000 ejen yang disasarkan kami itu, lebih kurang 2,000 ejen datangnya melalui kerjasama yang terjalin dengan agensi korporat,” katanya.

Kesihatan faktor penting lanjut had umur persaraan: CUEPACS

JOHOR BAHRU: Faktor kesihatan akan menjadi perkara yang penting dalam menentukan had umur persaraan penjawat awam yang dicadang dinaikkan daripada 58 ke 60 tahun, kata presiden CUEPACS, Datuk Omar Osman.

Beliau berkata, ini bagi memastikan penjawat awam mampu memikul tugas untuk membantu melaksanakan agenda kerajaan dalam membangunkan negara.

“Hanya mereka yang benar-benar sihat dan cergas boleh dilanjutkan had umur persaraan mereka kerana kita tidak mahu mereka asyik mengambil cuti sakit,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Mesyuarat Agung Kesatuan Kebangsaan Pembantu Tadbir Kesihatan Semenanjung Malaysia di sini, hari ini.

Beliau juga berkata, ramai penjawat awam akan memilih untuk bersara khasnya wanita dan ini akan menjadikan hanya 40 peratus saja penjawat awam yang bakal bersara, dijangka terus bekerja sehingga usia 60 tahun.

Omar juga menjelaskan bahawa apa yang CUEPACS mahu ialah lanjutan umur persaraan tidak diberikan secara opsyen seperti sekarang di mana penjawat awam terpaksa membuat permohonan terlebih dulu untuk bekerja secara kontrak hingga usia 58 tahun.

Sehubungan itu katanya, satu mekanisme khas perlu diwujudkan bagi menentukan penjawat awam boleh terus berkhidmat sehingga usia 60 tahun.
Golongan muda dan mereka yang masih belajar di universiti katanya, tidak perlu bimbang terhadap cadangan tersebut kerana ia tidak memberi kesan yang banyak.

Menurut beliau, banyak peluang akan wujud pada masa akan datang berikutan kerajaan kini melaksanakan pelan transformasi dan apa yang penting ialah bagi menyiapkan diri dengan pelbagai ilmu kemahiran.

Dalam pada itu, Omar berharap Kementerian Kesihatan mempertimbangkan untuk turut menempatkan pembantu tadbir kesihatan bergred tinggi di hospital daerah.

Ini katanya, akan dapat memberikan ruang kenaikan pangkat yang lebih besar kepada pembantu tadbir kesihatan. – BERNAMA

Produk Takaful Untuk Mereka Yang Dibebani Hutang

GET memperoleh lesen operasi pada 2 Disember tahun lalu. Buat permulaan, GET menawarkan dua produk asas takaful iaitu i-Great Damai untuk perlindungan nyawa dan i-Great Abadi untuk peluang pelaburan. Kedua-dua pelan itu menawarkan pelaburan minimum sebanyak RM100 sebulan. GET merupakan syarikat yang diwujudkan hasil gabungan kerjasama di antara I-Great Capital Holdings, yang merupakan anak syarikat Great Eastern Holdings Ltd. (Great Eastern) dan Koperasi Angkatan Tentera. Great Eastern Takaful targets RM30m contribution from new product

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29, 2011): Great Eastern Takaful Sdn Bhd is targeting a total weighted contribution of between RM25 million and RM30 million in the next 14 months from its latest product called i-Great Amal.

It aims to secure some 30,000 to 40,000 new policyholders for this product.

Its executive director and CEO Mohamad Salihuddin Ahmad said i-Great Amal, which is targeted at Muslims, offers protection against unexpected events, a double coverage while performing hajj or umrah that will help one to manage their finances and provide protection during the journey.

“There are more than two million Muslims in Malaysia performing the hajj or umrah every year. We hope to penetrate this market,” Mohamad Salihuddin told reporters after launching the new policy here yesterday.

i-Great Amal also offers compassionate benefit of RM2,000, Badal Hajj (Hajj by proxy) and is entitled for tax exemption, among other benefits. It is for customers aged from 30 days to 60 years.

Mohamad Salihuddin said the company has 3,000 qualifed Takaful agents and was looking to recruit more to provide better service.

He also said there were more insurance products in the pipeline. One of them is an education product, which is expected to be rolled out at the end of this year.

Last year, Great Eastern Takaful launched two investment-linked family Takaful products, namely i-Great Damai and i-Great Abadi.

Great Eastern Takaful is a joint venture between I Great Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Great Eastern Holdings Ltd, and Koperasi Angkatan Tentera (M) Bhd.
